Cool Cell operating-modes schematic

Source: Steve Baer / Zomeworks archive

Hand-drawn schematic showing Cool Cell operating modes: summer day heat absorption, summer night sky radiation, and winter solar collection

Conceptual sketch of the Cool Cell’s seasonal operating modes:

  • Summer day (top right): sun drives roof temperature too high for circulation; the ceiling tank absorbs interior heat instead.
  • Summer night (bottom left): the roof radiates to the sky; thermosiphon recharges the tank with coolth.
  • Winter (bottom right): sun drives circulation through the roof collector into storage.
